P.P.S.... But you will (generally) want to use the latest version of altos when in pad (vert.) mode. On my (arch-)linux machine it is simple to restart altos into any of several versions that are extent on the laptop, so this "fix" works A.O.K. for me. I also tend to use the "serial" de-bug mode and run the altosui script "executed in terminal" so I can see the program interacting with the teledongle in real time. This is a GREAT feature that Keith added, and you can enable it using the "Serial Debug" button in the "Configure AltosUI" sub-window.
