If you want to try to get rich quick, pick a more widespread mobile platform for now.
Android currently has one viable platform: the G1. Its obviously going to take some time for android to become widespread (google's name doesn't have the instantaneous effect on the masses that the iGod platform does), so if you really want to make money on android, I'd advise working on a difficult-to-duplicate application (as another poster mentioned) and not worry about rushing it out the door just yet. If you've already written an app for android, all the better - maintain it a bit, and you'll already have a name established when more and more android devices hit the street.
