You're not wasting your time, but if you want to make any monry it's going
to take a combination of events:

A hell of a lot of luck.
An idea that is great
No-one else having the same idea.
The skill to actually pull it off without making a complete mess of it.
The marketing genius to get anyone to actually notice it.
The marketing genius again to keep people interested after they've noticed
it.

Do it because you enjoy it. If you make any money from it then that's a
bonus.
