Here is my view on the subject I have 2 games in the top 10 according to androidstats.com (#4 and #10) they both have over 500 downloads and sell at the $0.99 price point (btw I am the dev that Stoyan mentioned earlier in this thread). Seeing as this is just a hobby that I do on the side I am very pleased with the money that I have brought in from these games.
My 3rd paid game is ranked as #49 and has under 100 downloads... since there are over 200 paid games out it appears to me that the majority of game developers are not getting very many sales. I am hoping for a temporary spike in sales this weekend as paid apps support is rolled out across the UK, and if you look at your developers console you should be able to see that you can now decide if you want to sell your apps in Germany and Austria as well as the US and the UK ( a couple of days ago you could only select the US). So hopefully those countries will get paid apps support soon as well. I am definitely going to stick with the Android platform, but will most likely be releasing stuff on other app stores namely window mobile. I still use a windows mobile phone as my main phone, I have past open source projects for windows mobile that were pretty successful (M2DC), plus I do a fair amount of MFC style coding in my day job. The per application fees don't look good to me, but I think it might be worth it overall. "Where's my gold rush???" Not sure yet, ask again in 3 months, because in that time the Market will open in at least 1 more country (UK), and at least 1 new phone will be released (Vodafones HTC Magic). In the meantime I am going to continue to support and enhance my existing games, release new games, and do as much as I can to get my name out there and recognized. ---snctln www.snctln.com On Mar 11, 2:59 pm, Jon Colverson <[email protected]> wrote: > On Mar 10, 5:58 pm, Stoyan Damov <[email protected]> wrote: > > > It's not "making big money quickly" the problem.
