Can we differentiate between persons who are doing this as a lark and
persons/businesses whose intent is profit? While this is great advice
to the former, it is not remotely relevant to the latter. Try to
understand that without a profit motive, quality apps are NOT going to
appear just because it makes developers "feel good" Real-world
developers don't work like that, they laugh and move on to somewhere
they CAN make money.

I love it that there is room for amateurs in the Android platform, but
please... we aren't all kids writing our first programs here.
