Mine does as well. One more than one occasion I've shown someone the G1 
and had to main for the menu key, tap more than once on a desktop icon 
to start an app (and yes, the icon background did go orange on each 
tap), or, or generally had to wait around for things to happen.

I've had that too.

As for the rest, well, when the G1 reaches a level where it might be my 
primary 'phone then I'll be able to comment. Mind you the iPhone 3.0 OS 
looks rather good, so if the carrier for my primary SIM signs off on 
tethering the G1 may become just a development testing tool.
