I'll take your word for it. But programming in C# is *not that bad*.
Yes, I know there are those who really thrive on C and think
everything should be in it.

As they should. Having been downsized by a large company myself, I
have every sympathy for the employees.

Nonetheless, I don't think it is wise for an engineer to limit
themselves by expecting one language or platform to last their whole
career. It is even more unwise to work for a large corporation and
expect you will be able to *choose* what language to program in.

When organizational turmoil hit at my company, I was actually glad to
be able to use Java in a new job, and then learn C# later. It meant I
had more marketable skills when the company decided to let me go for
good.
