I put the Exchange accounts into Bayesian spam-lover (as that's the most
error-prone) and then set IMFTune to put messages with the Bayesian=yes
header into the user's junk email. So I just use IMFTune to tweak
Exchange IMF. I'm not a huge fan of IMFtune as it's a bit buggy and
yes, I didn't feel like I should be paying for it either.

Thanks for the links -- I'll check them out

<<<ugh>>> ... IMFtune ?!? Why pay for that *critter* ?

http://stoekenbroek.com/imfcompanion/default.htm

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998975(EXCHG.65).aspx

and in any case I don't think it's a good idea using IMF if you already
have ASSP sitting in front of your Exchange server; the only thing you
may need would be an Exchange *integrated* AV to scan emails flowing
from local user to local user since in that case ASSP won't play a role;
other than that I can's see which benefit you may have by running IMF
behind ASSP

Going back on the exchange vs others discussion; if you're running a
windows "shop" and need a "groupware" application featuring AD
integration and so on, then go straight for exchange; if, on the other
hand, you only need a mailserver then there are other *better* choices
around

just my 2 cents
