I'm afraid you don't really understand what you are talking about which
makes your argument null and void.

If the sound card had really, really fast sampling rate then you
wouldn't have to worry about syncing the clocks. If the sampling rate
was fast enough then ADM would see two play backs of the same source
file as just about identical (unless the clock drift was substantial).

But that isn't the case, the sampling rate in your sound card isn't
that much faster (or is the same) as the bit rate of the digital audio
you are measuring.

You need to remember that the output of a DAC isn't _really_ analogue.
The output is generated from digital so it will always have discrete
steps in it (even if there is clever maths/electronics to smooth these
steps out). If the steps if your two sample don't quite line up, due to
clock drift then you will see differences that don't really exist in a
meaningful way.

That is what the clocks need to be synced for any meaningful
measurements.
