I encourage anyone to read about TaS "computer audio series" follow that
link ralphy provided.

And try to get hold of copies .

The no 1 issue for me in that whole article series is this silly claim
that *exact copies of the same file sounds different ?*
this is audio homeopathy to me . If this was true this post would not be
visible as it just "don't work that way" :)
Deduct thier actual knowledge of digital and computer audio from that.

I doubt mr Harley read all the articles thoroughly he probably just
fodder the magazine with similar stuff between the ads because the
readers wan't this kind alchemist articles on audio, the intention may
have been different in the old days .
They could have been completely corrupted over time the " shill theory "
.
I offer a second one " usefull idiot theory " then the person doing the
shill is either unaware or failing to understand even when pointed to
the evidence :) and a lot of in between . You just push the rigth
buttons on some persson and he promote your audio jwelry .Maybe the
editor is the shill and writers are "usefull idiot" ?

And finally why they are clowns , it's all there in thier mission
statement and mo.

Exhibit 1. Rigth of the bat they write a whole article on that blind
testing does not work and especially not double blind testing ?
Exhibit 2. They oppose using measurements ?

If you operate that way anything you come up with runs the risk of being
biased or just plain bizarre especially over time .
The whole " computer audio " article could be explained this way ,they
just don't understand computer audio and then does some random test on
stuff that does have anything related to the actual sound quality and
the placebo/cognitive bias does the rest.
(I personally believe it is another agenda here ).

1+2 will make it a cult or dark art over time , they are always biased
and how stuff really works is a mystery and somehow you can't measure it
? They imply that it is more than a simple electrical signal ;) No there
is no special subset of laws of physics or electrical engineering laws
that operates for audio signals only the transistors or the resistors
does not know, that play music they just pass current and voltages .

And measuring speakers objectively and categorise their sound ,it can be
done ! mr olive working for Harman has done work in that direction , it
is usefull when having a lot of speaker brands and you want to provide a
special tonality . It makes thing easy if know what to tweak to get a
certain result .
But it is complicated it was something like 70 different measurements
and the whole process on realising what to measure has been guided by
dbt listening test on what and how people hear stuff .
