Hi Cheri. I misspelled Linhares when I t yped it the second time. My family name is *Linhares* (not Linheras). My error.
I do have islands and villages. See below. I have a few questions at the end I'm hoping someone can help with. JR, Here is my *Linhares *family line starting with me: *1. LaRonda (Cash) Zupp *- me, daughter of *2a. Vanaye (Ransom)* and *2b.**Ellie LaRon Cash* *Vanaye (Ransom), *daughter of *3a. Maybel Dorothy (Linhares)* and *3b. **Howard Delton Ransom* *Maybel Dorothy (Linhares), *daughter of *4a. Mildred Florence (Simas) *(1898 - 1979) and *4b. **John (Joao) Linhares *(1888 - 1976) He was the first of our Portuguese family immigrants from the Azores to America. He was born in Ribeira Quente, San Miguel, Azores. He died in Morro Bay, California, USA.) *John (Joao) Linhares *divorced *Mildred Florence (Simas) *in 1927 and later married *4c.* *Alice Eleonor (Pederson)* (1909 - 1983). *John (Joao) Linhares* , son of *5a. Marie U. (Janinto)* ( 1863 - 1942) (The U. might stand for Ursel or Uzelle) and *5b. **Manuel Antonio Linhares* (1858 - 1932). Manuel Antonio Linhares was born in Ribeira Quente, San Miguel, Azores. He died in Goshen, Tulare, California, USA and is buried in Visalia, California. Marie U. (Jacinto) was also born in Ribeira Quente, San Miguel, Azores. She immigrated to America in 1903. She died in Dinuba, Tulare, California, USA and is buried in Visalia, California. *Manuel Antonio Linhares, *son of *6a. Maria Candida (Medeiros) *(born in Pooacao San Miguel, Azores) and *6b. **Francisco Joaquim Linhares *(b. Feb. 13, 1813 in Ribeira Quente, San Miguel, Azores.) Francisco Joaquim married Maria Candida (Medeiros) in the church of Mae de Deus, in Vila da Povoacao, San Miguel, Azores on Nov. 25,1839. --- The above is as far as I can confirm with sources and family history. --- I am looking to see what I can confirm father back.... JR, I see you have listed *Francisco Joaquim Linhares* as the son of *7a. * *Catarina Rosa* and *7b.* *Jose do Amaral Linhares* Sources? You have listed* Catarina Rosa *as the daughter of *8a. * *Maria Jacinta *and* 8b.* *Manuel Furtado,* both natives of Vila da, Povoacao. Sources? * For *6a.* *Maria Candida (Medeiros)*, one of my Medeiros family relatives has her listed as the daughter of *7c*. *Manual Garcia Medeiros*, (born in Faial, Azores) rather than the daughter of *8b.* *Manuel Furtado *of* Vila da Povoacao*. However, my relative may have this wrong since the family seems to be from the island of San Miguel rather than Faial . ** 8a. **Maria (Janita)* (born in Pico, Azores) is listed in our family records as the mother of *6a.* *Maria Candida (Medeiros)*. I don't know if she is from Pico Island in the Azores or from the Civil Parish, Pico da Pedra, on San Miguel. So I have some discrepancies I'm trying to figure out. *Questions:* *> Who is the daughter of 8b. Manual Furtado? 7a. Catarina Rosa or 6a. Maria Candida (Medeiros)? * *> Do 6a. Maria Candida Medeiros and 7a. Catarina Rosa both have mother's named Maria Jacinta? Or is this the same person mixed up?* *> Is 8a. Maria Jacinta from Pico Island in the Azores or from the Civil Parish, Pico da Pedra, on San Miguel?* Any further resources, dates of birth, baptism, marriage, death or residence would be so helpful! Thank you.
