In your genealogy program, you need to correct the spelling of the island. It's Sao Miguel (São Miguel, if you want the diacritic). The island of San Miguel (San is Spanish) is one of the Channel islands off the coast of California. So one letter makes a huge difference! Manuel Antonio Linhares (b. c. 1856) was the son of Antonio Francisco Linhares and Jacinta de Jesus. His bride Maria Jose (b. c. 1857) was the daughter of Joaquim Jose and Ursula de Jesus. You don't have the right people. Go back to the immigrant and get his baptism. Also, get your genealogy in a computer program and have it run a report. The numbering system that is used by the genealogy program and genealogists is what we are trained to use.
