I think Henry's approach is very good. It has always seemed awkward to me
for there to be a separate page for the qt ide, and then another for the
addons especially because they often did not refer to one another or if
they did, the references/links were hard to see.

Perhaps a compromise would be a "Quick Start" page as you suggest, but
Henry's clarity would be missed without a page such as his. It sounds like
there are 2 different "Quick Start" pages needed: one for a full
installation and one for a minimal installation. I think Henry's page
accomplishes both, somewhat.
