Are you only talking about sorting or also filtering ?
If you are only talking about sorting how does it work in a large
library with for example 8000 albums ?
If you are only talking about sorting I don't understand how this would
be user friendly on a Classic/Boom/Transporter with a one line display.
Even the Radio/Controller/Touch with limited number of lines and
limited screen size it's going to get complicated if you have 40 albums
from the same artist.
If we are also talking about filtering possibilities the situation gets
a bit different but aren't we then talking about some kind of browse
menus, just a lot more flexible than what we have today ? At least on
the Squeezebox user interfaces.
Are you suggesting that the lists contain albums or tracks ?
If they will only contain albums how do I browse to a specific track ?
Just by selecting the relevant album and then show the tracks for it or
some other way ?
