By picking the setting in My Music "List compilation albums under each artist", all artists will appear in the list. I think this was the normal way that the app worked initially, and then there was the bright idea of hiding a proliferation of artists from compilation albums.
So it was made configurable - i think Artist, Album Artist and Track Artist roles were produced to cope with the variety of different options available for configuring the content of the list, such that rescans were not necessary. It seems we are suggesting the removal of support for this setting, and instead providing two (more fixed) ways of browsing artists. i.e. the two ways of browsing artists are already present, but it requires a change to the server settings, which is not possible from player user interface. Also the option to "List albums by all artists for that album" or "List albums by band" allows the display of artists against an album name to be configured, either the artist(s) names or the band name. eg.: "No Quarter" by "Jimmy Page" and "Robert Plant" (artists contributing to the album) or "No Quarter" by "Page & Plant" (the band name associated with the album).
