I think that for the scanner to ensure at least one Album Artist contibutor role for each album would be the first step (instead of sometimes only having an artist role). We can all then confirm it is working without any negative effects. This wouldn't have much of a visible effect on the library for most people, but having done this, it is probably possible to then consider simplifying queries that browse artists and display albums. We may be able to eliminate "track artist" contributor roles. This is the ground work that would make any other user interface improvements easier to achieve. Otherwise I fear that more browsing queries using similar existing logic will make the situation even messier. To summarise what people want: 1) A way to browse a sub-set of artists, where they have an association to at least one album. 2) A way to browse all artists/bands/composers/conductors. 3) A way to browse compilation albums 4) Better display of a list of albums for a chosen artist (grouping or sorting based on contributor role). >Where I'm confused is how different is the suggested AA mode from >today's Artist mode less the VA object? > I think the only difference is the My Music settings allow this to be configured to show more.
