I think that book will be a great help. I am thinking of taking a look at it 
myself.
Funny note: I just downloaded Visual basic six for dummies...lol. I suppose 
I have to find where I can get the program. I have no doubt that it will 
look  to me like the monster manual looked like to you...*grin*
