With huge population density and lack of commitment from BMC for cleanliness is making the crisis worst. Pollution is everywhere, in Air, in Water, in Land with various forms. It is affecting day to day life of a Mumbaikar putting them at huge health risk. Also we face bigger crisis like floods destroying the routine life of the city. At Bharat Uday Mission, our goal is construct a better society. We are constantly putting our efforts at various social and political levels to improve the life of average man, a true reflection of India. Taking pollution is one big social issue; group has decided to go for a cleaning drive. Our goal is to clean the city and also create some awareness about cleanliness. Our first mission on the the lines is cleaning part of Juhu Beach, pride of Mumbai but one of the dirtiest beach in the country. As one of our members (Naresh) said , *"Social work uplifts the soul and has greater participation". * By sharing the common goal of BM, we probably are on our way to having uplifted souls. *Please send this to your other friends and family members and request them to participate in this drive. * Hoping to see you all at the venue mentioned below. But I also have a suggestion, for Sunil, aren't we forgetting the larger picture. Imagine, by contributing to a cause like BM, wont we promote an organisation with like minded people who can bring about larger changes in the very fabric of the polity that will enable us to bring about much larger positive changes in the society than only caring for the children who cannot study for want of money. These wide ranging changes would attack the root of problems and not a problem in isolation and hence strengthening the hands of such an effort is an equally noble contribution to the cause of the society we live in. BM JABALPUR CHAPTER ACTIVITIES "Activities in the past week" The past week of July saw BM_Jabalpur members propagating Right to Information Act, some in Jabalpur and some outside Jabalpur. 1. A member of BM_Jabalpur Chapter went to Delhi to participate in the 15 days NDTV Drive Against Bribe Campaign in the Indra Gandhi Indoor Stadium of Delhi. Interaction with 'Parivartan' and 'Kabir' Delhi based NGOs working for propagation of RTI, was also done. 2. Meanwhile the BM_Jabalpur Chapter was busy in active propagation of RTI in Jabalpur. On 12th July 2006, our members went to the Chanchala Bai School, Wright Town, Jabalpur and interacted with the school kids for propagation of RTI. 3. A RTI Awareness Programme for the Deaf and Dumb people in Jabalpur was organized by BM_Jabalpur chapter on the 16th of July 2006 in St Alloysius College, Pentinaka, Jabalpur in coordination with the Deaf Friendship Club of Jabalpur and Sandhan (a Katni based NGO working for RTI). This programme was first of its kind in India. The programme got a positive response form the deaf and dumb audiences of about 200 people. The programme was put across to the audience through sign language. The essence of the programme was an impromptu drama on RTI enacted by the deaf and dumb people from the audiences, which received great applause from the audiences. ********* On the 18th of July 2006, the BM_Jabalpur chapter organized a candle light Peace Campaign in front of the High Court to protest against the ghastly Mumbai bomb blasts and to express their condolences to the families of the bereaved and those injured. People from all walks of life participated in this campaign. The campaign was attended by a congregation of about 200 people. The masses who took part in this campaign put there signature on the "letter of protest" and some even put in some slogans. Regards to All 2.
