Folks,

Things are getting damned sloppy out here, so it's time for a
reposting of the rules.

Rules:
1) Talk about BMWs and related things.
2) No flaming unless the person really, really deserves it... then
fire away! Keep it brief, no extended flame-wars will be tolerated.
3) Don't waste bandwidth or time - use common sense, don't quote an
entire message when a snippet will do.
4) Private advertising (i.e., "my 635CSi is for sale") is
allowed. Commercial advertising only by authorized
advertisers. Check with [EMAIL PROTECTED] before posting
anything commercial. Unauthorized commercial advertising will not be
tolerated.
5) Heed the ListMaster's warnings: excessive flaming, <OT> off-topic
posting or <WOB> waste of bandwidth posting will result in
subscription termination.
6) There is no rule number 6.
7) No whining.
8) Correct e-mail etiquette is required. Your e-mail must be
configured properly so it does not send garbage characters, HTML
tags, etc. Use a proper subject header, not just the "reply to"
header. Do not type in ALL CAPS, the 'caps lock' key is right above
the 'shift' key, get familiar with it. Bad e-mail will get you booted.
Visit http://www.uucdigest.com/plaintext.html if you need help
configuring your e-mail to send ASCII text.
9) Have fun!

I want to call special attention to people who are being lazy and
leaving the subject line as "Re: [bmwuucdigest] digest" - this is
really inconsiderate for your fellow readers. Change the subject to
one appropriate for your message.

Thanks! Please address any replies to this message directly to me off list.

Regards,

I don't know, although I am sitting in a hotel room in Bozeman, MT
1500 miles away from home.

No, although it's a whole lot easier if you do remove it. Make sure
you know which alternator you have in you car before you order a VR,
there are a couple of different brands (Bosch, Valeo) which use
different voltage regulators and BMW doesn't know which one is in your
car.

E46 323i/Ci came with 287mm fronts. These will fit under 15" wheels,
since that's what low-spec 323s came with. 323Cic/iT, all 328 and
all 325s came with 300mm fronts, which require 16s. 330 and standard
M3 are 325mm, with the latter running thicker rotors, and these need
17s. I had to find and buy a 17" donut when I put the 325mm units on
my 325iT. Rears can be trickier from a fitment standpoint, as
different models use different e-brake drum diameters, which can go
as far as a difference in the trailing arms and e-brake component mounting.

Years ago and a short time after they found the ship, Smithsonian Magazine
printed a feature article on the testing of the steel with some really nice
pictures of the Charpy test. I don't recall that they cooled the samples,
but it was quite clear which bit of steel they were testing. The Titanic
sample snapped clean off like a bit of ceramic and they did indeed blame it
mostly on the sulfur content plus the cold water. "This steel would not make
it anywhere near a shipyard today".

The article went on to say that this helped explain why some verbal
eyewitness accounts claimed "walls of water" were pouring into the ship,
which never made sense with a "big nasty tear along the hull". The hull
simply snapped like an egg shell.

Paul,
If there is no accompanying smell of insulation burning or ozone, the
obvious is a heater core that's haywire in some way and getting max flow.
Is the situation ameliorated in any way be putting the HVAC fan to max?
