Hi KC,
Yes, there are indeed tones which of course aren't going to help you.
However, there are percentage progress indicators that will show up on
your Braille display upgrade moves along. You will see the word
"loading" and you'll be able to see percentage changes, then "erasing"
and finally, "writing". In each case, as these portions of the upgrade
progress, you'll be able to observe percentages and know that the
software is in fact being installed.
Hope this is useful to you.

Hi Sarah and List,
Wel, dear lady, you have a good point!
Blindness isn't the issue when it comes to downloading. However, it
does help if you have experience installing software and are generally
handy with computer-related stuff!
What I'm curious to know is, do you have to follow beeps and tones when
downloading? Also, are the product keys correct ow?
(I have some frustrated deaf-blind friends asking these questions!)
Needless to say, I wouldn't attempt to download on my own. However, even
with the SD card, I need to know if the download requires following
beeps and tones?
KC
