Apples and oranges, John. What you mention here is that the US would answer
a nuclear attack with a nuclear attack. However, yesterday's attack was not
nuclear, so a nuclear retaliation is not justifiable.

The PRC and Russia have already stated that they do not support this attack,
so the chances of them vetoing anything are not all that high. The US should
however realise that if they choose to ignore a veto, they can not start
whining if sometime in the future other members of the UN Security Council
will also choose to ignore a veto.
