That's the sort of self-righteousness that will perpetuate hate and
violence, in my opinion. We should not be afraid to look at ourselves, to
take some responsibility for the relationship we have with those who did
this terrible thing. Not that we should not hold them accountable;
however,
taking the attitude that "we have done nothing wrong" is poison to any
relationship, personal or global. We have done nothing to deserve or
justify this, without doubt, but let's not be afraid to take *some*
responsibility for the international relations in which this occurred.
Nick
How do I say this? No. Our _responsibility_ is to find everyone who did
this - and kill them. This was not our fault, and I reject entirely the
efforts of those who attribute to us some sort of responsibility for what
happened. It is now at least probably that Osama Bin Laden did this. His
objection to us is that we support Israel. That we are alone in that is to
our credit and the rest of the world's shame. The only major problem with
our Israel policy is that we don't support them _enough_. I refuse to play
the terrorist's game. This was not our fault. We are not responsible.
The policies that prompted this attack upon our people were _righteous_ and
they should not be changed. I reject any and all responsibility for what
just happened. The "Blame America First" attitude which you have just
provided such a striking example of will not make us any safer. The
Israelis certainly should not be abandoned - and all of this stuff about
"responsibility" for the international relations that have occurred is
nothing more than a code for that. Now we know what they have faced for
years. We are not at fault here. We are not responsible. Tell the dead
about the responsibility that we should take, Nick. I'm not interested.
