You mean in the 2 seconds between the hard sell and the thrusting
the penin your face? They get paid for results, not explaining details
of contracts and they act that way.
But you still have the service agreement/contract to review, and you have 30 days to do so, either on your own or with a lawyer should you have the geld to have one on retainer, during which you can cancel at any time if you are dissatisfied, as long as you did not use an unreasonable amount of airtime testing the service (IIRC this was 25min).

If during this period you *still* don't read your contract or understand the service, or contact CS to *ask* if you have questions, who is at fault then if you run up a high bill?

Even with the hard sell there are STILL opportunities to change your mind...and this was stated on the service agreement.

Of course I'm not saying this all one sided. I have a cell phone too from a completely different provider. I went in as an INFORMED consumer and wanted to examine what I was agreeing to before I committed. Which I did. And I understand what happens when I go over my airtime, or call in a roaming area, or call long distance (or understand the difference between DOMESTIC and FOREIGN LD).

In the end there were no secret clauses or deliberate attempts to screw over the customer. It was all in print, and available for them to see. If a customer calls up and refuses to pay the roaming charges because they didn't know what roaming meant (despite the fact that the freakin' phone said ROAM when out of the call area!) despite the fact that this is on their service agreement and clearly illustrated, who is at fault here? The information was provided; its the CUSTOMER'S responsibility to know how to use the product they're investing in.

The real question I see this going to is what sort of consumer society should we have...one of informed consumers or one that coddles them?

Damon.
