I'd /love/ to be part of the test group!  I think this practice 
would encourage the group members to learn how to be mutually 
accountable to each other.

I'm reminded of a practice that Peter Block describes (I don't 
remember where--probably in the audio program /The Right Use of 
Power/):  The whole group meets.  Each person considers what 
promises they are willing to make to the group, then expresses 
those promises.  The other members of the group say whether those 
promises are enough, and may ask for additional promises.
