I would have no problem having the performance of the team(s) I work on determine the percentage increase in my salary each year.
Having the team determine it, and/or having the possibility of a negative change in my compensation would strike me as unnecessarily threatening. A company would have to fire me if they wanted to decrease my compensation. I would expect most professional developers to feel that way about a salaried position. -----Original Message----- From: Luiz Esmiralha [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sun 11/7/2004 7:22 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Subject: Re: [XP] Re: Measuring individual developer productivity/accountability On Sun, 07 Nov 2004 18:12:49 -0800, Dale Emery <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi Luiz, > > >>> If one can't determine individual performance, how can one > >>> determine individual salary? Trusting my monthly income to the team is a bit too much for me right now. Maybe I could do it if I had worked with them before. But in the dark, I dont know if I would have the guts. How to build that kind of trust between strangers?
