After the rain yesterday afternoon it turned into pleasant evening and
nigh. This morning was fine and as we set off the sun came out. We made
our way to Ellesmere, there were nowhere near the number of boats about as
there were last Thursday when we came through. We went to the very end
of the town arm and moored before following the diversion signs into
town. The wharf area is being completely redeveloped with a large open
pedestrian area right at the end of the wharf and plans for shops and
residential properties on the site of the old creamery. After doing a
bit of shopping we had lunch in town before setting off back to the boat
just as it started to rain. We left Ellesmere in light showers and made
our way to Hampton Bank where we have friends living, so we stopped with
them for a while as we had not seen them for 3 years. Eventual we set
off again and this time it rained hard for a while, but then we were
rewarded with a large rainbow. We have moored for the nigh on one of the
many water points above Grindley Brook locks, there must be 5 or 6 of
them set out along the bank, we did try to fill with water but the one
nearest to where we have moored looks to have a fine thread on the
connector, not the same as our hose fitting. We would have moored on the
48 hr moorings but they are all full, lots of them must be travelling
back as well as I am sure half of them were here last week when we
passed through.
