Well... my argument (pedantic as it admittedly is) is that those laws should
not then be called Blue Laws.  ;^)

Blue Laws are pretty specifically those laws enacted from a religious bias
long ago (the term "blue" was common slang in the 18th century for those
adhering to a rigid, frozen moral code - "bluenoses" for example - and these
were the laws they enacted).  

Any new laws following the same tradition are NOT, at least to my mind, blue
laws and should be considered from our current perspective - not the
religious perspective of the 16th century.
