  What is your target?

My personal opinion is that it is a fad diet and though it works is not
the
best choice for a healthy life. I started out about where you are now 2
years ago and decided to start counting calories and running.

I am down to 182 and run 8 miles a day at 8.7 MPH and can do a
mini-marathon
in 1:37. I will be doing my first full marathon this November.

The calorie method ensures a better balance and teaches you how to get a
more well rounded diet. In addition it is based off of simple math and
even
on the carb diet if you exceed your calories your won't loose anything.

This is basically how it works.

First you get your current maintenance calories:

Weight * 12 = 3288. This is basically what your body needs to stay at the
current weight in calories assuming you have a normal life style (not a
complete couch potato). Generally speaking your body burns around 120 cal
/
hr during active normal waking hours.

Now, in general 3,200 (I may be off a few hundred here) is what you need
to
  burn to loose 1 pound.

So if you reduce you caloric intake to say 2000 a day your body wants 3288
you are giving it only 2000 so you are burning by loss 1288 a day.
Basically
you could loose a few pounds each week this way. Of course the more you
loose the harder it gets. When you are down to 250 or so I would start an
exercise routine, walking, etc. Running isn't for everyone, but there are
lots of good things you can do.

Basically this is a good long term solution that doesn't cut out foods but
limits what you eat. Don't worry about fat, carbs or any of that. It
  balances out.

I had high blood and diabetes before I started, now I have neither and I
eat
all of the food I need. Granted once I started running more hardcore I
decided to cut out junk food which is a good idea anyway. I can send you a
link to a web site that has a lot of the popular non fast food chain meals
and their calories per meal. (Applebees, and places like that)

  Anybody tried this diet.

  Starting weight 274lbs.

I'm on day 2 and feeling weak (apparently this passes). Plus it takes you
off caffeine, so have got a caffeine headache.

I'm also trying to eat healthily. I know they say you can eat as much
bacon
as you physically can get down your throat, but that can't be good. Can
it?
