Are you calling the MM CFMX Java code a kludge -- it runs on Mac OS X, 
untouched.

The only modifications are replacement of the coldfusion shell script 
with one that doesn't use a Intel C++ program to start and stop CFMX.

You must also change a few environment variables and parameters so that 
CFMX uses the Mac OS X JVM/JRE -- instead of the Intel-specific one 
installed as part of the CFMX installation

Finally, 3rd-party jdbc drivers must be placed in where  Mac's Java can 
find them

If the truth were told, MM would have a simpler, faster install on Mac 
OS X -- they would not need to install the JVM/JRE or even a Web 
Server -- those things come with every Mac OS X installation.
