Errrr. Roul is "crate trained" . We leave it open all the time for him, it is a
place where he can go and hide (or think he is hiding), just take a nap, or
watch the wonderful world of feet go by. When we have to leave him alone he
goes in the crate with the door closed. We know he will be safe and not get
into mischief that could hurt him. It is cozy, warm, and familiar. Not in
anyway related to being chained.

Barbara L, and Roul who loves his little crate, or Casita as we call it.

I don't see the point in having a wonderful caring loving little
Chihuahua just to stick him in a crate??? This is terrible! Is it as
bad as being chained? Yeah, pretty close I'd say. If you don't really
care about this poor animal please find someone who can give it a good
  life that it deserves!
