Hi,

I have not said anything while reading all of these notes regarding testing
that have come thru, but I just couldn't help myself with this one <VBG>.
I
have been an active member of CKCSC for 7 years now and I can honestly tell
you that I have never heard the distinction made that AKC breeders do not
test. It is ludicrous to say that CKCSC members are saying that "all" AKC
breeders do not test...maybe there have been some people that you know
personally that have made those comments, but to label an entire group as
saying such is misleading and just not true. I know many breeders who show
and register with AKC only and they do as much testing as I do....AND I know
many CKCS members who do not test, as that is their personal choice. The
majority of CKCSC members also register their dogs with and show AKC. The
rift between CKCSC and AKC will continue to widen as long as people on both
sides of the playing field keep making comments such as these. There are
good and ethical breeders in both clubs, just as there are many unethical
breeders in both clubs.

I test hips, hearts, eyes and patellas..but I do so because I want to have
full knowledge of my girls strengths and weakness when deciding on a
breeding. Would I use a dog that was not OFA'd.......yes, I would....if and
only if I knew that my girl was strong enough in that area to take a chance,
and I felt that the dog was the dog that was the right dog in every other
area for my girl. I feel that by not testing you are eliminating a
valuable tool in making decisions that are not only best for the puppies,
but for the breed.....but I do not agree on using "testing" as a method of
selling puppies.

Kind regards,
