Damn, I hate it when I post something and someone shoots a hole in it so
quickly!<G>
Excellent post Kathy and the note about the 11 year old with a grade 1 murmur
vs a 5 year clear dead at six was very good. And you are right the rule the
way I stated it would not be what we really want you shot holes in it in no
time. But my point is that if everyone is doing what they say (which I DONT
believe) then we SHOULD be able to come up with some broadband rule that
would expose the pretenders, help the breed, yet not be so restrictive as to
cause a problem. I believe we really COULD do that but those who are less
then what they pretend to be in the ethics department don't want it ever to
happen.
I'll make an attempt at another example... how about having to provide the
cardiologist report on the parents done within a year of breeding for posting
to public access HOWEVER no ruling on if you can or can't breed the dogs
leave it up to the breeder. All you have to do is present the document that
says they were examined by a cardiologist and what the findings were to
register the litter. How can that hurt?
How can it help... more knowledge for those looking at pedigrees, puppy
buyers, AND it will make those claiming to test hearts but not really doing
it test them or not breed, and it will expose those bigger name dogs that
maybe aren't as healthy as the owners collecting the bucks off of them claim.
