Must jump in again.
Laura I disagree entirely. In my opinion, and that of my peers, the breed
has deteriorated in both venues since the CKCSC declined the responsibility
of becoming the parent club. I believe it is due to a lack of education.
As I see it, in the CKCSCUSA the dogs are getting coarse.
In AKC the dogs are getting finer and longer legged with as you say long
noses and a sporting square sort of look.
Neither group should be preening. The breed is going backwards.
As far as the famous dog you reference..I have no real idea what dog you
speak of but can guess..that's how rumors start, eh?
There is certainly no way for you to prove what you said and no way for me
to prove what I am going to say..but I believe that each and every "top dog"
that has been shown AKC could have easily finished CKCSCUSA...had they been
given the opportunity.
And I believe the main reason progress toward allowing AKC dogs "in" has to
do more with keeping the competition at a minimum. And of course most of
the members are so afraid of the AKC if the majority really wanted to move
forward it would be impossible.
As far as AKC specialties..as you and I both know (having been on the board
when this was all unfolding).
Had the club accepted leadership we could have kept our regional shows, our
regional clubs and all of our club judges.
what a difference that might have made.
