Thanks Julie. I agree with a good deal that you have said. I certainly
agree anyone who wants to can register and show AKC and many do. What I
am trying to understand is, why would people register with a body (AKC),
although they are certainly free to do so, and not subscribe to what
that body stands for and, in fact, vilify them and the people who
register AKC only, as they are standing ringside at one of their shows.
How do they justify to themselves supporting an organization (by
entering and showing at their shows) for which they have so much
contempt that they will not allow dogs registered only by that
organization to be registered, or used, by their members? That is my
dilema. Not that the individuals or dogs in either organization are
inferior, nor that they hold shows and give awards to their members.

What is even more puzzeling to me is why would anyone limit their
options for moving a breed forward by limiting breeding choices? I
believe that people often loose sight of what this is supposed to be all
about and that is the dogs. Not people or clubs. People and clubs are
a by-product of the dogs, not the other way around.

Anyway, it was just a question I had. Not meant to make anyone angry or
defensive but perhaps food for thought.

I thought Kathy's Yonkers answer was very good and is probably where the
truth lies.
