Because, with only a very few exceptions, they AREN'T! It is the pet owners
who mostly *have so much contempt*. I, for one, cannot blame them. They
don't show, they don't breed, they have no real experience with the AKC, so
they cannot possibly think for themselves and make those necessary changes
in their minds. If one has never used a computer or the internet in their
lives, they would have no idea what it was like or what fun it could be.
They would have no idea if the computer would positively or negatively
impact their lives. They would have to base their thoughts purely on what
they have been or are being told. And what happens whenever this subject
comes up? Mostly negative things are said--a constant rehashing of the same
subject. This is what those pet people are hearing. They don't go to your
shows or your meetings and so they never get to hear the positive. They
only hear the negative from the internet because that is the only place they
have access to. All the negative talk is just reinforcing what they were
told years before. So how can you blame them for thinking things are still
the same. If you want the pet owners to reset their thoughts, give them
reason to do so. If you want the CKCSC/AKC split to end, think and act like
it will. If you can't or don't--then maybe you don't really want it to
happen. I find that the vast majority of the time, people usually get what
they really want.

Again, pessimistic attitude coming through. This is only a temporary
situation--remember. No one wants to limit their options. Just some
changes need to be made. If you really want them to, they will be made.
