List members...
Oh my...I have to help facilitate 5 ethical cases with a group of students
tomorrow...these cases will be simple after reading about this MESS.
I will take them through a basis "ethical case analysis model"...
Why don't the list members try using this model to "give an analysis" of
this situation...BE NICE TO ONE ANOTHER...ONLY CIVILIZED PEOPLE CAN PLAY...
I. What exactly is the problem?
II. What kinds of problems are we facing? Issues vs. Procedures or
both...
III. What are our possibilities for action?
IV. Is there disagreement about the value inventory?
A. What cause the disagreement?
B. Is the difference in interpretation caused by a difference in the
adhered to ethical framework?
V. What is the morally best choice of action?
You will have to use these "five principles of ethics" to support your
statements:
1. Beneficence (doing "good")
2. Non-Maleficence (not doing "harm")
3. Self-determination
4. Justice (distributive fairness)
5. Veracity (truth telling)
I recommend a "Round Robin" starting with "What exactly is the
problem?"....if someone is "rude" they will be removed from the
discussion...
Who wants to facilitate???
Take care,
Kathy Yonkers
