Donna is right. Years ago when we were fighting some dog legislation in
our county, we had a private conference with the County Commissioners.
One of them told us that he had purchased all of his pets from the pet
store...."I thought that is where you got them." this was really an eye
opener for us.

Our all breed club and also the all breed club across the river from us,
advertise "Breeder referral" in the major newspapers in our area. You
cannot imagine the calls we get. Like, "My Great Dane puppy is trying
to breed my goat what can I do?" The person who was in charge was
constantly answering the phone. We finally got a seperate phone line
with voice mail. The caller would leave their name, phone number and
what breed of dog they are looking for, or the question they want
answered, and then we would call them back with the information.

This is a HUGE job!!! If you do this be prepared to get calls from
people looking for other breeds as well. I had to research all the very
rare breeds and find reputable contacts for them as we had people
looking at books and thinking they wanted one of these very rare dogs
where there are only two or three in the country! But you still have to
be pollite and answer the questions.
