Hi Amanda, I have had my 4 Cavaliers micro chipped. The first almost did me in when she screamed like she was being killed. Since that time I pay $2 extra at the vet to have them use a little topical and a little Novocain shot. I know I am being a baby but the first time I did it that I was thrilled. My second Cavalier had the topical and Novocain thing. The vet scanned the chip worked fine in her hand. Placed the chip under the skin (dog didn't even feel it). The vet scanned again to make sure. That stupid chip wouldn't scan again. We tried pushing it around and rescanning and nothing. Needless to say at this point I was getting a little frustrated and so was the vet. WE now had a chip in place that refused to scan a second time. What do you do? I didn't want her to go in to remove that non functional one-scarring between the shoulder blades so we implanted the second one. He now has two but one doesn't scan and the other works fine but I was very happy I had opted for the $2 to get the painless implanted microchipping done. I had the other two dogs done with the topical as well. It is worth it to me to have it done for $2 extra. You would think that a vet might just offer that wouldn't ya? After all the wonderful input about micro chipping the pups my new policy is they will not leave home without it and if someone doesn't want it they need to look elsewhere for a pup and then I will not refer them anywhere. I have to wonder why someone wouldn't want it already done. I would love to here that response. Kris Hassig MysticKnight Cavaliers [EMAIL PROTECTED]
