Glad that you are enjoying the painting. It is one of a very few as I didn't paint many cavalier paintings, maybe three total. I remember one that I did of Randi Rosvoll and several of her cavaliers. And I remember making a wax mold of a cavalier head for the COS to use to make gold or silver pins. I made a larger mold for Susan Gavant as she wanted a big one in gold with diamond eyes. It was a knockout--- because of the diamonds, they were huge--- at least a carat each. Sad to say, I learned this week that Susan died of cancer about a year ago. She never bred a litter, but owned quite a few cavaliers (and rescued other breeds as well) and she was a real character. She was loud, profane, hilariously funny, and extremely bright. She loved dogs and took better care of her gang than most people did their children. She usually had six or seven, all exquisitely groomed and in beautiful condition. Most of the COS people would remember her. She showed her blenheim, Fritter, in veteran's class for several years and would upbraid the judge if Fritter lost.
