I am home from flyball lessons, have poured a glass of wine, waded through 102 messages on this thread, and heaven help me, I'm going to jump in. (With a second glass of wine.)
There is one method of voting that no one can deny to pet owners. That is the vote by where you spend your dollars. I cherish my Yearbook, keep it on my desk and use it as a reference almost daily. I read every word the judges write as published in the Bulletin. I follow AKC show results on Onofrio. I do research on the internet every time a topic or disease comes up I don't know much about. Why? Because I find the breeding of Cavaliers a fascinating subject, although I will never join the ranks. But mainly I do it so as to maintain a mental list in my head of breeders I respect and breeders I don't. The lists, particularly this one, are invaluable for evaluating breeders. Given enough time, you begin to get a picture of how different ones see the important issues. You never know when you might be looking for another Cavalier. You may have 4 1/2 like I do at the moment, but all kinds of things sadly can happen. The opinions of pet owners may not be important to some folks, but it might be smart to remember that just like big brother, we are watching, listening, learning, and evaluating. And some of us have pretty high standards on certain issues, like health for example. Granted the one or two more dogs I might buy in my lifetime may be insignificant, but do you know how often I get asked my opinion by others looking for a good Cavalier? Treat us kindly, we pay good money for the dogs you don't find good enough to show. -- Barb Cooke [EMAIL PROTECTED] Galveston Island, Texas ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
