As it does with all new breeds, the AKC opens its stud book for a specified
period of time. CKCSC breeders had the opportunity back in the mid 90's to
register their dogs with the AKC. According to my information (which may be
incorrect), those who did take advantage of this opportunity were ostracized
by the CKCSC. Now it's too late. Too bad, those of us who play the AKC only
game are also penalized by not having the option of acquiring some very
lovely dogs from excellent bloodlines bred by breeders with years of
experience. And, I'm afraid, since the AKC is the most accessible game in
town, the CKCSC-only registered bloodlines will have nowhere to go.
