Hi Elaine,

It sounds like the breeders of your two little dogs may be the ones
that did not register their 'moms' with the AKC or else they were
bought and bred after the AKC stud book had closed. IMO, I don't
believe two little dogs are sufficient reason to reopen the stud book
when there had been a 3 year window of opportunity. If I am
remembering correctly, the only time stud books have been
reopened have been when the genetic health of the breed was in
jeopardy and the reopening was the only viable avenue to save the
breed. I don't believe that this is the case with the Cavalier as all
Cavaliers around the world that are registered with their recognized
Kennel Clubs are eligible for AKC registration.

Take care, Jackie
