How fortunate for you Deborah! I know of a situation where a 3 1/2 year
old bitch (bought for show/foundation) was diagnosed with a barely audible
grade 1 murmur and the breeder (and co-owner) abandoned the person with the
bitch after finding out there was a problem.

Thankfully, the co-breeder stepped in and supported the situation and she
wasn't even the breeder who sold the
bitch, so she really had no obligation to do so. The breeder from whom this
bitch was bought wouldn't even return phone calls adding to the distress of
the situation.

I agree, a breeder should stand behind her lines and support these
situations. There is no guarantee that the dogs won't have problems, but
when they do, a breeder's actions prove just how ethical they are (or not!).
FWIW, My opinion is if you take action, offer a remedy, show concern for the
person injured, you would diffuse any possible ill will.
