As the AKC issue has been around for several years, it would make sense to get that out of the way first. It is also the less complicated issue. Mandatory testing is a wonderful ideal. I hope that some type of standard can be set for health testing.... But right now "pet owners" - all of us - can know the testing status of any puppy they buy (or rather its parents, etc).. by ASKING the breeder for the information. If the answer is not satisfactory to you, then look further. This can happen right now. Breeders certainly do that when looking at dogs to use with their own dogs. And informed pet buyers - even those who have never had a dog, but have done their homework - ask for health information on parents and grandparents. As a breeder I respect that!!! They go to the top of my list! So, lets get the AKC issue resolved cleanly, and then we can move on ...
