Yes, breeding is a VERY complicated thing. You can't gain one thing without
losing another. EVERYTHING has to be considered. And a careful BALANCE
achieved. Genetic diversity has priority over everything because without
good immune system function we will be unable to enjoy our dogs.

I think most experienced breeders have a conscious or subconscious
realization of this that the pet owners do not. This is because every
breeding choice they make has an end result that they can see.

However, the pet owners do not make these choices and see the end result
over and over. They seem to simplify the problems in breeding. They think,
breed only clear to clear, and you will get better odds of getting clear and
that is better. Unfortunately life is not this way. Whenever you get
improvement in one area, you also lose something in another.

If the pet owners finally got what they wanted, they would eventually end up
with worse than
what they have!
