Yes, breeding is a VERY complicated thing. You can't gain one thing without losing another. EVERYTHING has to be considered. And a careful BALANCE achieved. Genetic diversity has priority over everything because without good immune system function we will be unable to enjoy our dogs. I think most experienced breeders have a conscious or subconscious realization of this that the pet owners do not. This is because every breeding choice they make has an end result that they can see. However, the pet owners do not make these choices and see the end result over and over. They seem to simplify the problems in breeding. They think, breed only clear to clear, and you will get better odds of getting clear and that is better. Unfortunately life is not this way. Whenever you get improvement in one area, you also lose something in another. If the pet owners finally got what they wanted, they would eventually end up with worse than what they have!
