Yes. I
have submitted assessments late, as well as completed them late. WHY? Usually
because of the UNREALISTIC expectations of the DON & adminiatrator (who
really have no ideal of how long it takes to do the MDSs, RAPs, and CPs) that
you can do MDS stuff, take call, attend meetings, etc.... I remember being
grilled by the CO of a hospital based facuility that I worked for
on how long does it take to do an MDS.... She never could understand that
IT DEPENDS on how complicated the resident is, how much research it
takes to find the info, softwear problems, etc... WE were a new
facility just opening and we were averaing 10-15 Medicare
admits and 5-8 Medicare discharges each WEEK..... not to mention
trying to fill non-certified beds. I was the only MDS nurse for a
long time working 60+ hours each week ON SALARY. I gave a 4 week notice and
did my best until I left, and then I found out they flagged my file
as a "no re-hire." As a good friend once told me, "No good deed
ever goes unpunished." ......not that I'd ever want to work there
again.
-----Original Message-----I was wondering if any RNAC's would care to share if any of you ever submitted a late assessment. According to my administrator, I am the only one she has ever heard of who has! The ones she worked with previously were perfect. Maybe she is right, I am just asking.
