There are two issues here.
One, don't confuse the assessment of the
resident with the completion of the assessment form. They are two different
events marked by two different dates. The
assessment of the resident stops as of the ARD. The completion of the assessment
form occurs as of R2b. Yes, the ARD of the new assessment should be the same as
the first one because the assessment of the resident stopped on that
day. You are in effect using the same assessment to fill out the new form.
But you did not finish filling out the 30 day form on the day you finished
filling out the incorrect 60 day form. Therefore, you have a new
R2b.
Second, once you inactivate the 60 day, it no
longer exists as far as CMS is concerned. I understand that within the
software you are simply changing AA8b on the original assessment, but that is
for your convenience only. It is a brand new assessment that has no true
association with any other assessment that may have existed before.
