Pete,

I have the Link monitor + 2,500 watt inverter/charger on Calypso. It was
manufactured by Heart Interface just about the time Xantrex was acquiring them.

A few years back Calypso's link display failed. At that time Xantrex still had
a manufacturing/engineering/repair facility near Seattle. I was able to have a
chip replaced and a software upgrade by the repair facility. Since then that
whole facility was closed and the work moved offshore. A company named Outback
that manufactures alternative energy inverters is now operating out of that
building.

Xantrex customer service and technical support was less than helpful but they
did offer up several "reset" type commands that I had not tried in the past.
My guess is Xantrex has lost the ability to service the older Link systems.
Since the last repair the "smart" regulator went TU and I now use a 3 stage
that is compatible. I sent the failed regulator to a company (tech in a small
shop) in Florida to see if it was repairable. After a few conversations
regarding the possible issues he disappeared.

I have some Link diagnostic info and a copy of the manual somewhere in my files
if you are interested. The display will lose a digit or so if left on the same
setting all the time or in direct sunlight. To compensate I leave the display
on "Batt 2, amperage" which limits the number of digits energized. When I want
to check the battery voltage I switch the display over to read the value. This
mostly works but it is a short term solution.

If you choose another system I am interested in how it works out.

Subject: Stus-List xantrex link 20

I have two house batteries. No separate starting battery yet.

I use a Xantrex Link 20 to monitor voltage/current on each battery and it
appears the display has gone belly up. IE I can only see voltage for each
battery, no current. Does anyone have trouble shooting ideas/options?

I looked at the Xantrex Linkpro as a replacement, but I need to buy two - one
for each battery, add an additional shunt, blah, blah, blah.

Any other recommendations for a replacement?

thanks,
Pete
