MacOS X 10.3 doesn't run on Beige G3s without a hack, called XPostFacto. This patches both the OS and the bootloader to make OS X run, but it makes the machine a PITA to boot into MacOS 9. I have to: [1] select OS9 in XPF, then quit [2] run System Preferences, change the Startup Disk, then quit; [3] restart; [4] Wait for machine to test 768MB of RAM - this takes around 2m10s [5] /then/ press and hold [Opt] to bypass booting from the main disk ... And it should boot into OS9. Sometimes. If I'm lucky. Summary: rebooting into OS X to share files with the Classic isn't really an option.
