I've downloaded 7.0 & 7.1 - I'll give those a try soon, as well. But
there's something pleasing about having the latest OS it will run and
the earliest side-by-side and dual-booting; something that is missing
from intermediate versions such as these. I'll try to create a
bootable Zip disk and give them a whirl on there.

Well, erm, now that you come to mention it, no... Not /died/. I think
I've heard a couple of tales of nasty jolts but that's all. And it is
a tiny tube and only a mono one.

I'm going to have to soon, anyway. Firstly, the screen image is
gradually shrinking with time into a letterbox shape & I want to
adjust it to fit the CRT. Secondly, the machine now has to be
power-cycled 2 or 3 times to get it to start up. 1st time, it's dead;
2nd & sometimes 3rd goes, I get broken black & white vertical bars.
Not as clear as the dreaded Simasimac but it's much the same. I fear I
have leaky capacitors; my volume is now very quiet as well. So I'll
need to clean the board, maybe even get someone to replace the caps
for me - my soldering is pretty poor.

I fear the poor old girl is slowly dying. :-(

[Nod] Oh yes. In fact, I have an idea they've even showing Letterman
regularly now - he's one of yours, I believe. Not my sort of thing. I
miss natural history documentaries, the odd feature film and some of
the better comedies; that's all.

[Nod] I see what you mean & take your point.

On a freshly-overclocked Beige G3, now running at 333Mhz (11%
improvement) on an 83MHz front-side bus (25% improvement) with the
backside cache tweaked to 222MHz (33% improvement). It's much snappier
now! 8-)
